What a relief! Our last two bbq dinners were pretty dismal so my friend and I were thrilled with our fun and delicious experience last Wednesday. Max City is a gem. We shared the sampler so I can attest to how the goodness of all the meats. However, the ribs were my favorite. They were all the things: falling off the bone tender and the sauce!! Loved the sides, especially the potato salad and cornbread muffins. Service was respectable and fairly friendly. It's a small place so late Wednesday afternoon was a perfect time to visit. We chose the bar and were pleased with the experience. The prices are reasonable for 2025.

We ordered in an amazing Thanksgiving dinner-incredible smoked 14 pound turkey, fresh mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and superb cornbread muffins. Dinner was nicely packaged with reheating instructions too. We will be back for dinner in-house soon!

Max City is a small family-owned restaurant that specializes in slow-cooked, southern-style barbecue. The meats are wood smoked over a blend of oak & hickory. Since I don't eat meat, this does not excite me. However, my friend, who grew up in Georgia, was craving BBQ so I brought him here. The place is small & cozy with bar seating and a few tables inside. The outside patio is spacious and dog friendly. We sat at the bar and received a friendly greeting from Mel (owner) & Bailey (server). They were both darling & attentive. My friend doesn't really like pork, but he ordered the pulled pork plate, which comes with cornbread and two sides. He selected potato salad & cucumber salad. We also got Mac & Cheese to share. I wanted to try the Hush Puppies, but the fryer wasn't working. The cornbread was amazing! It was warm, fluffy inside, & slightly sweet. The cucumber salad was Southern style - thin slices of cucumber tossed in a dressing made from vinegar & sugar. My friend said it reminded him of the one his mom used to make. The Mac & Cheese was creamy and delicious. The potato salad was tasty. My friend absolutely loved the pulled pork. He said it was awesome! The man sitting next to him was also from Georgia and is a regular here. They both agreed that Mac City BBQ is legit! If you love Southern barbeque, this is your spot. *Catering *Beer & Wine only *Free Cornbread with Yelp check in. *Parking lot in back and residential street parking.

Had a great lunch here early afternoon on a Sunday, we walked in and sat at the bar. It's a casual vibe and we had a really sweet server help us. We got the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket sandwich, and the meat was so juicy. The bun was toasted well and there were bottles of bbq sauce so I drenched every bite of the sandwich with the sauce. It was so good. We also got sides of the mac and cheese and the baked beans, very classic and good. We also got the cornbread as a Yelp check-in special and I'm so glad we didn't miss out on those. I find it so hard finding good bbq in LA and this definitely satisfied my craving. Hoping to come back to try more of the menu soon :)

So I've driven by this place many times and seated wanted to try it but it's usually busy. On this day!! It was oddly not, so we decided to try it out. I've had my fair off bbq and might I say, this place was outstanding! The meats were tender and flavorful! I loved every piece that was on the plate. The ribs fell off the bones and the pulled pork was super tender! The Mac and cheese was delicious and was not the packaged krafts (at least I thought it wasn't) Which was even better (package is still good tho). The grilled cheese with pulled pork was probably my favorite! The melted cheese paired well with the pork and all flavors came together! Hush puppies oh lord!' That little round delightful bundle of joy was also above and beyond! It was crunchy and moist, also a must have! Enjoyed all the food, from sides to the plate. Will definitely go back if not for the meats for the hush puppies. The place inside can be a little small for a large group however the outdoor seating in the back by the parking lot should be able to accommodate a larger party. There is a good size bar inside along with beer on tap. I enjoyed the indoor seating as it gives you that Texas style feel. If in the mood for barbecue, I'd recommend this spot. It's probably one of the few without being over priced as well!

Listen this place has great meat, but that's about it. This is simply my personal opinion, but as someone who tries a lot of barbecue spots and steakhouses, I have to admit that their sides are lacking. I have been here multiple times throughout the years and their quality is pretty consistent. Their ribs and sauce that they offer are good. But, like I said, if you have the option to get sides (specifically the mac) from elsewhere.. then do so. The service is fine; no complaints there. When I went in, the girl that took my order it was super nice and helped me figure out what to pair. As for the space itself, it's a bit small, but I think they still have an outdoor area where you can sit, which is a plus. The inside is not the most spacious, but it's better than nothing if you want to relax and eat with some friends or even sit at the bar area (I included a picture of that below) and watch the game. Overall this place will remain high on my list of places nearby when I'm craving ribs, but isn't the first.
